Everyone lives according to a “reality map” that shapes their beliefs, behaviors, and bottom-line priorities. The resurrection of Jesus Christ radically changed the reality map for his closest followers from disappointed and defeated disciples after His death, to purposeful and powerful protagonists of the gospel after His resurrection. On Palm Sunday, we worship Christ as King. A woman from Bethany demonstrated her extravagant devotion to Christ as she broke open a vial of expensive perfume and anointed Jesus’ head. Her devotion was personal, sacrificial, and part of her legacy that will always be remembered. Such love could only come from Christ, who loved her first.
