As Jesus prays in the presence of the Father, desiring to be glorified by the Father as well as to bring glory to Him, we see the purity of His ministry motives in seeking to make the Father and His gospel plan known to the world.  Lord, forgive us for our mixed motives for ministry and for doubting the gospel’s power to save. Scripture from John 17:4-8.

Our Lord’s Reflection in Prayer

Even in the face of His own impending death, Jesus prays with a confidence that stems from a relationship of intimate communion with the Father.  This confidence is available also to us on the basis of our union with Christ. John 17:1-3.

Our Lord’s Confidence in Prayer

The resurrection of Jesus was the lynch pin of the Gospel, giving the early church something to talk about.  But it didn’t stop there.  We too are commissioned to take the truth of Jesus’ resurrection and the liberating message of forgiveness to a world that so desperately needs it.  We go not in our own strength, but in the power of the Holy Spirit. Scripture Passage from John 20:19-31.
